Staplehurst trustees approve corrected minutes, pass expenses and withhold Fire Department claims pending receipts

The Staplehurst Village Board of Trustees met Feb. 25 at Village Hall and voted to approve corrected minutes from Jan. 28, 2025 after amending a salt conveyor reimbursement figure.
Trustee Hans moved to approve the minutes with the correction (the reimbursement line was changed from $1,150 to $150); Trustee Wilken seconded and the motion carried.
Trustee Stava moved, and Trustee Wilken seconded, to approve the regular expenses listed by the clerk. The roll call showed Trustees Stava, Hans and Wilken voting in favor and the motion carried.
The board voted to withhold Fire Department claims until receipts are provided. Trustee Wilken moved the measure, Trustee Stava seconded, and the motion carried on a roll call vote of Stava, Hans and Wilken in favor.
Chair Frank presented a Maintenance Employee Agreement and a Clerk/Treasurer Employee Agreement and directed the clerk to verify insurance coverage on village equipment and report back to the board. The board moved to proceed on those items and approved the action.
The board approved adopting the OnPay payroll system after a motion from Trustee Stava and a second from Trustee Wilken.
Clerk/Treasurer Bobbi McVey-Blath submitted a claims register totaling $17,513.74, including payroll items and vendor bills for utilities, testing and insurance. The board approved the expense motion noted above (the claims list was the financial record provided). The claims list included payments to the United States Treasury, Nebraska Department of Revenue, payroll disbursements, utility companies and several vendors; the clerk provided the detailed invoice list for the record.
The meeting was adjourned after a motion by Trustee Hans, seconded by Trustee Stava. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for March 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Village Hall.
