Warren Local approves staffing changes; student urges board to address SR 550 bus stop safety

At its Aug. 28 meeting the Warren Local Board of Education approved a broad slate of personnel actions under RES. NO. 70-25, including administrative stipends, classified hires, resignations, transfers and numerous pupil activity appointments.

The board approved a $10,000 stipend for Larry Ryan for facilities scheduling for the 2025–2026 school year. The personnel section also listed certified mentor and supplemental assignments and multiple extracurricular and coaching appointments to take effect pending any required verifications; several classified hires were approved pending completion of criminal records checks and other employment requirements, including Megan Halsey (middle school cook) and bus drivers George Klintworth (route #26) and Tyler McDonald (route #49). The record lists resignations (including Rebecca Jessee from a high school supplemental position) and several internal transfers.

During the public participation portion of the meeting, Dylan Edgell (public participant) raised safety concerns about a bus stop on SR 550 and asked the board to consider options to protect students. The district’s District Operations report, presented by Mr. Allen, noted the maintenance and transportation departments are operating efficiently and completed 111 of 117 maintenance requests in the prior month; Mr. Allen also updated the board on facilities projects including the press box, ball field parking, soil removal between buildings 2 and 6, and the clinic.

Most personnel actions were approved unanimously as part of the meeting record; many assignments are contingent on successful verification of certification, experience, and criminal records checks as required by district policy and state law. The board reaffirmed its next regular meeting for Sept. 25, 2025.
