Staplehurst — At its May 27 meeting the Staplehurst Village Board approved routine administrative business including minutes, vendor and payroll claims, and a change to clerk office hours to increase resident access.
Trustee Hans moved and Trustee Wilken seconded approval of the April 29 and May 13 meeting minutes; votes were unanimous among present members. The board then approved the village claims as presented, which included vendor invoices and payroll items (examples listed in the minutes include Beaver Hardware $111.67; Jones Group Insurance $1,444.00; Employers Mutual Casualty Company $1,376.20; Norris Public Power $1,659.92; Payroll Jamison $3,356.80; Payroll Bobbi $1,540.00; Payroll Wayne $1,500.00).
In maintenance and personnel business, the board approved a final payment to an employee identified as Fern to cover last hours and paid PTO; Chair Frank will contact John Deere for mower maintenance details. The Fire Department reported three calls in April and none in May, noted that Workman's Compensation insurance was reinstated, and Chair Frank signed the Rural Fire Department contract; fire department claims will be added to next month’s agenda when receipts are provided.
Chair Frank presented approved addresses for a second attorney letter regarding property cleanup; the attorney will confirm addresses and perform a drive-by review before mailing. Trustee Wilken moved and Trustee Hans seconded a motion to change village office hours to Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; the motion passed unanimously.
The board reviewed water/sewer past-due accounts and took no further action. Trustee Hans moved to adjourn, Trustee Wilken seconded, and the meeting was adjourned.
