The Staplehurst Fire Department reported three calls in February and seven calls to date in March during the March 25 village meeting. Representatives presented bids to widen the department’s garage door; because the board lacked a quorum, no Fire Department claims were approved at the session.
Chairperson Frank said that the village office and the Fire Department are exploring backup power options and that vendors will be contacted for bids. The board also heard a proposal for an Emergency Snow Plan intended to notify residents about snow-clearing progress; the plan was proposed for board review and would require follow-up action.
The Clerk’s report noted several related operational items, including plans to include the Consumer Confidence Report in the June water bill and to follow up on an incident in which a vehicle abraded a road crew. The Fire Department and village staff will likely bring any required purchase approvals or contract awards to the Special Meeting on April 1, where a quorum may allow formal action.
