Manley trustees adopt Nuisance Ordinance 24-02

The Village of Manley Board of Trustees unanimously adopted Ordinance 24-02, the village’s new nuisance ordinance, during its Aug. 13 meeting. Chair Denise Swenson read the ordinance aloud at 7:57 p.m., and Trustee Tim Glas moved to approve it "as read and waived," a motion seconded by Swenson and approved by all trustees in attendance.

The ordinance was presented during the board’s unfinished business period as trustees also discussed ongoing community-center repairs and required maintenance at village facilities. Swenson had earlier moved to waive the three readings required for passage; that motion was seconded by Glas and passed unanimously before the ordinance was read.

In the same session the board adopted a revised Fee Schedule for maintenance jobs. Highlights of the schedule approved by motion of Glas and seconded by Swenson include lagoon mowing and spraying at $30.00 per hour, general lagoon and maintenance work at $20.00 per hour, mileage reimbursement at $0.66 per mile, driving a village vehicle at $15.00 per hour, and a $15.00 per hour rate when waiting on parts and repairs.

Trustees also reviewed several routine items during the meeting, including community center rental dates and necessary repairs to a small picnic shelter damaged in a July 31 storm. The board tabled separate items — a road patch on Main and Locust, a revised fireworks ordinance and a revised peddler’s ordinance — until the September meeting.

The ordinance and fee schedule were approved by roll call votes recorded in the minutes. The board adjourned at 9:03 p.m.
