Malcolm trustees approve permits, a lease extension and a sewer repair quote; several items tabled

Trustees voted to extend the Aging Partners lease, approved a sign permit and a sewer-repair quote, tabled generator and road-gravel bids, and heard fire-department plans for utility extensions to a future station.
At the Aug. 15 meeting, the trustees approved several routine but locally important items, including a one-year lease extension with Aging Partners, a building permit for a sign at 140 W. 2nd Street, and a sewer-main repair quote for a residence on Beckman Circle.
Trustee Little moved and Trustee Lemkau seconded a motion to approve Codr Plumbing’s quote of $4,970.00 to repair the sewer main at 16 Beckman Circle unless a lower bid is received; the motion passed 5–0. The board also approved the building permit for Blended Collision Center at 140 W. 2nd Street on a unanimous vote. The board approved extending the Aging Partners lease for another year by motion of Trustee Little and a second from Trustee Lemkau; that motion passed 5–0.
The board tabled several infrastructure items pending further information: a $59,850.00 generator quote for Well 1 was tabled to September, and a TopKote Inc. bid for gravel-road work downtown and along 105th Road was tabled for additional information. A quote of $8,105.80 from Miller & Associates for GIS electronic mapping was presented and the board approved the clerk applying for two grants (LARM and NDEE) to help cover cost; final action on GIS mapping was held pending grant awards.
Members of the Malcolm volunteer fire department (Cory Heidtbrink, Steve Schmulken, Dale Nelson and Shane DeBaetz) discussed options for extending sewer and water service to a planned station at 112th & West Bluff Road; the board heard the discussion but did not take formal action.
Other administrative directions recorded in the minutes include ordering door clings for town vehicles, work shirts for the maintenance crew and business cards. The meeting adjourned at 10:29 p.m.; minutes were signed by Nadine Link, Village Clerk.
