Republic Services CPI increase: Staff presented a contract provision allowing an annual adjustment tied to a sector-specific consumer price index (water, sewer and trash services). Mobile data terminals: Police and IT staff said 2019 in-vehicle terminals were incompatible with the department’s new CAD/RMS system; staff recommended purchasing 18 Dell Pro Rugged 14 mobile data terminals with docking stations, installation and shipping for $77,532. Council approved the expenditure 6–0 after members asked about processor and storage specifications and were reassured that the proposed devices meet current needs and that server storage handles long-term data retention.
Automatic aid with Waco: Staff presented an interlocal automatic-aid agreement limited to structure-fire incidents. Under the agreement, Waco would send up to seven personnel to assist Hewitt structure-fire responses when appropriate; Hewitt would respond to Waco with three personnel in reciprocal situations. Staff said the agreement carries no direct cost and could help maintain the city’s ISO considerations. Council authorized the city manager to execute the interlocal agreement 6–0.
Reappointments: The council reappointed two members to the Planning and Zoning Commission for two-year terms ending June 2028; motion carried 6–0.
