Local sports groups say Malcolm baseball-field project is on schedule after $50,000 matching grant

Representatives of Legion Parents and the MYSA told the Village of Malcolm Board of Trustees on Nov. 6 that the village baseball-field renovation project is on or ahead of schedule.
The groups reported that new grass, concrete and light poles have been installed and that lighting equipment will be delivered soon. They said the project received a $50,000 matching grant and that updates to the concession stand and stairs to the crow’s nest will be added to the scope while maintaining the goal of completing the project before the first spring game.
Trustees took the update under advisement; no vote was required for the informational update. The report also noted new solar lighting and replaced tee boxes at the disc-golf course and two new park benches installed in each park.
Separately during visitor period, a resident of Harriet Circle asked for clarification about a potential new house at 250 W 1st Street; the board said the matter was not on the agenda, took the concerns under advisement and tabled the item pending further information.
