Local business owners outline plan for Malcolm convenience store and gas station; no site secured

Devin and Mark Schroeder, owners of Homestead Convenience & Pizza in Cortland, appeared at the Sept. 4 meeting to describe a possible convenience store and gas station in the Malcolm area.
The Schroeders said they have not yet secured land for the project and will return to the board if and when they identify a viable parcel. They expressed concern about the potential impact on the existing Malcolm General Store but provided no site details or formal application at this time.
Trustees took the presentation as informational; no votes were taken and no permits or incentives were discussed or approved during the meeting.
If the project advances, the Schroeders will need to identify a site and submit the appropriate permits and plans for review by the village and the planning commission.
