LRE Water reports aquifer test results; conservation devices to be distributed to residents

Jon Mohr of LRE Water briefed the Village of Malcolm trustees on progress under the Malcolm Aquifer Grant at the July 10 meeting. Mohr said the 48-hour aquifer pumping test analysis and the well-siting assessment have been submitted to the board and that LRE Water is continuing work on well-head protection and well decommissioning as part of the grant requirements.
As part of the grant’s public-education component, LRE offered rain barrels, rain gauges and low-pressure (low-flow) shower heads to residents who requested them; Mohr said those items will be distributed this month to qualifying residents. The update did not specify the number of devices distributed or the grant’s total dollar value.
Mohr’s presentation will be incorporated into ongoing grant work; trustees recorded the update and expect further follow-up as well-head protection and decommissioning plans are finalized.
