Representatives of Malcolm Public Schools and the Malcolm Youth Sports Association met with the Village of Malcolm trustees on July 10 to review a revised agreement defining duties and responsibilities at the new ball field complex.
Ryan Terwilliger, superintendent of Malcolm Public Schools, and Matt Thieman, chairman of the Malcolm Youth Sports Association, reviewed changes to operational responsibilities and maintenance roles. Trustees and the visiting parties made additional revisions during the session and asked the Village Attorney to convert the negotiated revisions into a legal agreement for all three entities to review before final approval is scheduled at the Sept. 4, 2024 meeting.
The board also heard from several American Legion parents who proposed renovating the village’s older ball field; trustees said they will collaborate with the parents on that project in a manner similar to previous partnerships for youth sports facilities.
What happens next: The Village Attorney will prepare a formal draft of the interparty agreement and circulate it to Malcolm Public Schools and MYSA for review and approval at the Sept. 4 meeting.
