Malcolm trustees set Sept. 18 budget hearing, approve treasurer’s report and several permits

The Village of Malcolm Board of Trustees on Sept. 4 accepted routine financial and permitting items and set a special budget hearing. Trustees voted 5–0 to accept the treasurer’s report for August showing disbursements of $112,840.89 and deposits of $143,189.91. Trustee Little moved the measure and Trustee Tarr seconded.

The board also approved several administrative items unanimously, including a LARM insurance renewal for $26,246.00 and multiple building permits. Trustee Lemkau moved to approve a building permit for a four-season room, deck and patio door at 450 S. Lincoln Street for Matt and Jen Bratrovsky, contingent on required inspections; Trustee Benes seconded. The board approved a refund of a building-permit fee for a shed at 125 W. Second Street and approved Planning Commission Recommendation 434, granting a permit for a new home at 540 Malcolm Road (Nic and Kayla Colgrove). Each motion passed 5–0.

The board set a special public hearing for the 2024–25 budget for Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. Trustee Little moved to schedule the special meeting because the village had only recently received its evaluation; Trustee Tarr seconded and the motion passed 5–0.

In a consumer-billing matter, a resident identified as Mr. Ling told the clerk he received his August water bill late in the mail and asked that a $25 late fee be waived. Trustee Lemkau moved to waive the fee; Trustee Little seconded and the board voted 5–0 to waive the charge.

The meeting closed with a routine adjournment at 9:56 p.m. Trustee Little moved to adjourn and Trustee Benes seconded; the vote was 5–0.
