At its June 16 meeting the Butts County school board approved a multi-item consent agenda that included corrective actions stemming from the district’s 2023–24 audit, a renewal of the district’s GSBA membership, a membership/contract with RHA, multiple facility-use requests and several capital and maintenance contract awards.
A presenter told the board that the corrective action plan addresses issues found in the 2023–24 audit and that policy 25 and other corrections have already fixed many items. The board approved that corrective action plan as part of the consent agenda.
The board reviewed routine renewals and memberships. The presenter said the district ‘‘saved I think about $14,000’’ after discussions with GSBA but also noted increases in property-casualty and workers’ compensation costs; transcript references showed increases of $6,084 and $13,362 for those lines, respectively. The RHA membership/contract amount in the transcript is unclear and is flagged below as garbled.
Procurement items approved included a flooring replacement bid for JGH JHS (Flooring, $91,338.99), epoxy restroom flooring at HMS (transcript shows $84,332.60 but the digits are garbled in the record), and an audio-system upgrade for Red Devil Hill (transcript lists a figure with damaged punctuation; presenter said the upgrade will improve audibility for graduation). The board also approved routine surplus textbook disposition and multiple requests to rent district performing-arts spaces by Shiloh Baptist Church, Rock Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Audrey Jackson and Pinerest Baptist Church on specified dates.
The consent agenda was moved, seconded and approved in its entirety. The board did not debate each line item at length during this meeting; all items were passed via the consent process.
