Watt said later edits to related agenda material — made when the regular meeting agenda was posted — showed an updated posting date that created understandable public confusion.
"We did post the public hearing with a copy of the budget on June 4th, 12 days prior to our public hearing tonight," Jason Watt said, explaining how an agenda update altered the visible posting date on some sites.
Board leadership proposed, and members agreed to consider tabling adoption of the budget after the public hearing so the board could "sit on" public comments and return for formal action before the June 30 legal deadline. President Dixon suggested the board could schedule a subsequent meeting specifically to adopt or amend the FY26 budget; the board later agreed on June 29 at 6:30 p.m. as the likely date.
Watt said the district would proceed with the hearing that night and continue accepting public comment but that a separate meeting notice (as a regular meeting) would be posted for any follow‑up action. The board did not take a formal vote on budget adoption during the study session.
Next steps: the district will hold the budget hearing as noticed, accept public comment, and reconvene on June 29 at 6:30 p.m. if the board chooses to take formal action on budget items before the June 30 statutory deadline.
