Planning Board sets Feb. 20 public hearings for two proposed cannabis dispensaries

The Town of Newburgh Planning Board on Jan. 16 voted to schedule public hearings for two proposed retail cannabis dispensaries on the Feb. 20 meeting date. Joseph M. Saffiotti told the board CBD 420 (project 24‑32) had received necessary variances from the Zoning Board of Appeals for the change of use in an existing storefront; Pat Hines said County 239 review returned advisory comments related to signage and lighting and classified the application as a Type 2 action under SEQRA.
Separately, Kush Factory (project 24‑34), represented by Melzina Canigan Izzard, was described as a special‑use application in Lowe’s Plaza; the board was advised the Orange County review was in progress and that the application requires a public hearing under the Town’s cannabis code. For both projects, staff and consultants recommended scheduling public hearings so the board could receive public comment and complete necessary administrative reviews. Both motions to set Feb. 20 public hearings passed unanimously.
