Maywood Board unanimously approves $355,951.75 consent agenda, accepts teacher resignation and authorizes vehicle purchases

The Maywood Board of Education on Nov. 10, 2025 unanimously approved a consent agenda that included bills, payroll and activity fund disbursements totaling $355,951.75 and moved through several routine personnel and operational items.
The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Sheri Hartley and seconded by Darren Sellers; the board voted Yea: 6, No: 0. The approved disbursements covered general fund claims, lunch and activity accounts and payroll; listed vendors and amounts included Dana F. Cole & Company, LLP ($12,873.07) and multiple local suppliers. The board record shows a grand total of $355,951.75 for the consent items.
In personnel action, the board accepted the immediate resignation of 4th-grade teacher Mrs. Julie Clark. The motion to accept the resignation was made by Marty Schurr and seconded by Barb Fritsche and passed unanimously (Yea: 6, No: 0).
On transportation and equipment, the board approved the purchase of a 2026 Ford Transit from Anderson Auto Group for $63,917.00 (motion by Jason Johnson, seconded by Thom Worth) and approved converting bus #5 to a 14-passenger bus at a cost of $6,200.00 (motion by Darren Sellers, seconded by Marty Schurr); both motions passed Yea: 6, No: 0.
The board also moved to adopt a new mission and vision statement for MAYWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOLS (motion by Jason Johnson, seconded by Thom Worth) and approved the district's 2025 Multicultural Plan (motion by Sheri Hartley, seconded by Barb Fritsche); both measures passed unanimously.
Superintendent Mr. Bejot reported several administrative items earlier in the meeting, noting incumbent-election filing opens Jan. 1, 2026 (three board seats up for re-election), that ESU #15 in McCook is seeking a new building, and that superintendent evaluations were distributed and are due to Board President Marty Schurr by Dec. 1. Principal Mr. McCain reported upcoming school activity dates, that recent ACT scores had been returned, and that staff attended an inservice to prepare for the Rule 10 visit in February.
At 7:29 p.m. the board entered an executive session to discuss teacher contract negotiations for the 2026–2027 school year; the board returned to open session at 8:15 p.m. No formal action related to contracts was recorded in open session.
The meeting adjourned at 8:16 p.m.; the board scheduled its next regular meeting for Dec. 8, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Library.
