Board votes to cancel airport monitoring system contract effective Aug. 1

The Joint City-County Airport Board voted July 30 to end its contract with Airport Monitoring Systems (AMS), which had been used to monitor aircraft arrivals and support landing-fee billing. Board members said Vector now provides monitoring and billing services, creating a redundancy.
Paul Lyman summarized AMS’s original purpose and recommended discontinuing the service; the board adopted a motion to cancel the AMS contract beginning Aug. 1. The board asked staff (Paul Lyman offered to contact the vendor) to notify AMS of the termination.
Members described AMS as useful during the landing-fee startup but redundant now. The motion passed by voice vote; no further conditions were listed in the meeting discussion.
