Mount Pleasant council approves consent items, funds waterline for industrial parcel

Councilman Jakob Howcroft moved, and Councilman D. Lynn Beesley seconded, approval of the claims register dated May 9–22, 2026, totaling $212,930.11 and the May 12, 2026 regular meeting minutes; the motion carried with affirmative votes from Councilmembers Howcroft, Keisel, Black, Beck and Beesley.
Councilman Cade A. Beck moved approval of Requisition #050126 to Christiansen Glass for up to $4,975 to install new metal doors at Hydro Unit 2; Councilman Russell G. Keisel seconded the motion, and the council voted to approve the expenditure, asking staff (Shane Ward) to solicit additional quotes to confirm pricing.
In a separate action on property in the industrial park, the council approved up to $53,340 to be used toward installation of a waterline on the Fred Atkinson parcel. The funding motion, moved by Councilman Beck and seconded by Councilman Keisel, passed with the same five affirmative council votes. Council discussion noted the property currently lacks power and water service and that staff and presenters (including Monte Bona and Justin Atkinson) are exploring infrastructure solutions.
Also on the administrative side, the council agreed to move the June 23 meeting to Thursday, June 25, 2026, because of Primary Election Day.
Next steps: staff will obtain additional vendor quotes where requested, and the approved waterline funds will be applied toward installation once scope and costs are finalized.
