Heritage Farm Commission reviews maintenance, accounts and seasonal event plans

The Heritage Farm Commission used its Sept. 8 meeting to review operations, finances, and plans for upcoming community events.
Treasurer Cara Wraight reported the Bolton Heritage Farm fund (BHF) balance at $11,217.17 and said the Friends of Rose Farm account holds $7,362.46; among recent receipts she noted $429 from a Summer Yoga series and a separate $300 donation from a Cross Country Running Series. Building and Grounds Supervisor John Butrymovich reported routine mowing and trimming and said one tree was removed.
Commissioners reviewed outstanding projects with no new updates on the LOTCIP trail design or NPS wayfinding signage. Arlene Fiano said a rough draft for a library display case is complete and will be considered for inclusion in a Hartford Foundation for Public Giving grant application.
Members discussed community events: the commission agreed to enter the October 3–5 scarecrow contest (entry fee $20) with Kevin Drake volunteering to lead the effort. For the Sleighbells Ring fair the commission assigned tasks: Ann Maulucci to solicit boxwood donations, Kevin Drake to pick up the boxwood, Paula Lynn to gather pinecones and contact the church about a Christmas tree, and Arlene to circulate a photo of a bird‑themed tree and set a workshop date.
Arlene also reported that Patrick Carroll of Regiment Bourbonnais has committed to a reenactment for the town’s 250th Celebration in September 2026, with dates under consideration and plans to align local events with the state schedule. The commission noted it is not currently authorized to maintain an official Facebook page and will consult Town Administrator Jim Rupert about possible authorization.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn (moved by Cara Wraight; seconded by Paula Lynn) which passed unanimously at 8:26 p.m.
