Mount Kisco presents four CDBG projects totaling $4.1 million; hearing continued to Aug. 19

The Mount Kisco Village Board on Aug. 5 reviewed proposals to submit Community Development Block Grant applications for the 2025–2027 funding period and adjourned the hearing to Aug. 19 for further consideration.
Village staff presented four candidate projects and associated budgets: Downtown Streetscape Project — Phase 3 ($2,000,000 total; Village match $1,000,000; WUCC CDBG request $1,000,000); Fox Senior Center Improvements ($1,000,000 total; Village match $500,000; WUCC CDBG request $500,000); Maple Avenue Playground & Pocket Park ($600,000 total; Village match $300,000; WUCC CDBG request $300,000); and Kisco Avenue Sidewalk Connection ($500,000 total; Village match $250,000; WUCC CDBG request $250,000). Community Representative Jean Farber cautioned that awards are not guaranteed and that no municipality can count on receiving all listed funds. Village Manager Edward Brancati reviewed how federal funds are released and summarized prior CDBG uses in the village.
Board members asked for copies of the applications and guidance from the Treasurer on matching obligations, and discussed whether the senior center application still made sense given prior discussions about relocating the center to the park. The Board voted to adjourn the CDBG hearing to Aug. 19, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. or as soon as possible thereafter to allow staff to provide additional materials before the Sept. 6 application deadline.
