Budget amendment: The minutes record an FY26 amendment for the Substance Abuse Recovery department that increases insurance refund revenue from $101,821 by $7,202 to $109,023 and records a corresponding vehicle‑maintenance expenditure of $7,202; the Board approved the amendment.
Road names: Tax Administrator Penny Harrison presented new public and private road names for June 1, 2025–May 31, 2026 and described the adoption process. After a short, duly noticed public hearing with no speakers, the Board adopted the road names as presented.
Fire Marshal vehicle: The Board approved the Fire Marshal’s request to purchase a used 2015 Chevrolet Suburban to replace a 2002 Dodge truck after County Manager Chris Knopf introduced the request and Commissioners Marion and Tucker moved and seconded the motion.
Other procedural actions: The Board recessed briefly for a meeting of the Mount Airy–Surry County Airport Authority, entered closed session pursuant to G.S. 143‑318.11(a)(3) (legal) and G.S. 143‑318.11(a)(6) (personnel), and adjourned at 10:02 p.m.
