Limington select board approves warrants, welcomes deputy clerk and posts local notices

The Limington Select Board approved minutes and warrants and moved through routine municipal business at its Dec. 4 meeting.
The board voted to approve prior meeting minutes and to authorize payroll and appropriations warrants: board materials listed payroll warrant 108 ($33,729.98) and appropriations warrant 110 (transcript formatting unclear but reported total was shown as 897,95716 for week 48) and payroll warrant 111 ($36,151.27) with appropriations warrant 113 ($55,347.54) for week 49, totaling $91,498.81. A select board member moved, another seconded, and the motions were approved.
Staffing announcements included the board welcoming Christy Smith as the new deputy clerk; she will begin Dec. 8 under a three-month employment agreement. The board also noted that Bev Foss will move into a part-time assistant position in the town clerk’s office.
Department reports covered routine operations: recreation programs and childcare schedules were posted (registration at limingtonrec.com), the fire/EMS report included weekly call counts and mutual-aid discussions with neighboring towns, public works summarized winter readiness and maintenance activities, and code enforcement reported three building, three electrical, three plumbing and one occupancy permit (year-to-date about 400 permits) and two Notices of Violation mailed by the town attorney.
The town clerk’s office announced that nomination papers for several local offices are available and must be returned by Jan. 2, 2026; 2026 transfer station stickers are available at the town office for $20 beginning Dec. 1; and dog registrations are due Dec. 31 (fees reported as $6 for neutered dogs and $11 for non-neutered dogs, with a $25 late fee after Jan. 31).
Board members did not take controversial votes on policy at the Dec. 4 meeting; the session focused on routine approvals, staffing updates and departmental operations.
