Pittsfield’s council approved resolution 25-132 on Dec. 16 to hire a commercial cleaning and restoration contractor to repair water damage at the town reuse center.
Staff told the council two local vendors inspected the site and submitted proposals; the lower bid from Buchar’s (transcript reads 'Bushar's') Cleaning and Restoration was recommended. The amount shown in the staff presentation and packet was $37,846; during the meeting a later spoken line contained a typographical error listing $378,846, which staff clarified as incorrect. Jack said the work is not currently grant funded and that funds will come from the town’s building maintenance account or contingency.
Councilor Craig — who reported a positive recent experience with the recommended contractor — moved to accept the bid and the council voted to adopt the resolution. Staff said the cleanup will make the reuse center usable for future programming and to allow follow-up grant-funded work to proceed if grant funds become available.
The contract award allows staff to proceed with cleanup and restoration work immediately; staff will report back to council on completion and any additional repairs needed to enable reuse-center programming.
