CCRPC committee approves personnel policy updates including increased life insurance

The CCRPC Joint Executive & Finance Committee approved proposed personnel policy updates at its March 4 meeting that include updated salary ranges and an increase in life insurance benefits.
Executive Director Charlie Baker said the changes reflect findings from a Compensation Study and recommended making salary-range updates effective at the beginning of the fiscal year. The more substantive insurance change increases the life insurance benefit from $50,000 to two times an employee’s annual salary, capped at $200,000. Staff provided an insurance quote showing the cost for the increased benefit at $6,720 annually, an increase of $3,840 from the current premium.
Members asked clarifying questions about paid time-off accrual and combined holiday/time-off rules; staff clarified that paid time off does not accrue while an employee is on unpaid leave and holidays are separate from accrued paid time off. Chris Roy moved to approve the personnel policy updates as proposed; the motion carried unanimously.
