Union City Manager outlines upcoming meetings, endorses PennDOT grant support and declines towing bids

Borough Manager Cindy Wells used the Aug. 27 council meeting to highlight several upcoming meetings and community opportunities and to report on administrative items.
Wells announced an EMS meeting at Fort LeBoeuf on Aug. 28, a Devereaux Day park-and-trail kickoff on Sept. 13 (with Representative Banta, a representative of Senator Dan Laughlin, County Executive Brenton Davis and Erie County Planning staff invited), a council meeting and public hearing on a zoning ordinance amendment on Sept. 16, a council-only presentation of health insurance plans on Sept. 25, CERT training Sept. 27–29, and the Erie County Firefighters Association safety awards dinner Sept. 27. Wells asked council to attend the Devereaux Day kickoff if possible.
On policy items, Wells said the borough opted not to advertise bids for a towing ordinance and that a letter of support will be sent from the borough for the PennDOT Charging & Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program along the U.S. Route 6 corridor. The manager did not provide further details about the towing ordinance provisions or the borough's role in the PennDOT grant application during the meeting record.
The council set a public hearing on the zoning ordinance amendment and indicated the proposed parking ordinance amendment would be advertised as required; both will be advertised twice as required by notice rules.
