Mount Clemens adopts FY2026–27 budget and approves FY2025–26 amendments

The Mount Clemens City Commission voted to adopt the fiscal year 2026–27 annual budget and general appropriation act resolution after a budget work session and a required public hearing. City administration summarized the hearing schedule and recommended approval.
Administration also presented multiple amendments to the FY2025–26 budget to reflect updated receipts and expenditures across funds. Highlights included revenue adjustments tied to CDBG, U.S. DOT and state public safety grants that administration said increase revenues by roughly $285,200, an $85,100 adjustment tied to State of Michigan marijuana fee receipts, and capital outlay reductions for vehicles and improvements rebudgeted into FY2027. Grant fund entries included a reimbursement and expense entry of $4,928,500 related to the Victory project and the new city hall project; the city is acting as fiduciary for the Victory project so expenditures equal revenues for that fund.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about timing of new marijuana license fee receipts and a one-time software/training expense of about $53,000; administration said the software cost includes training and will not recur at the same level annually. After discussion both the budget resolution and the proposed amendments were approved by roll call votes.
