Carmel Unified board approves LCAP, local indicator report, 2026–27 budget and routine resolutions

At its June 17 meeting the Carmel Unified School District board approved multiple routine and required items: the 2025–26 local indicator self‑reflection report for the California Dashboard, the 2026–27 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), the 2026–27 general operating budget and a statement of reasons for excess reserves, and annual Education Protection Act resolution 26‑12.
Deputy Superintendent Mary Petty reported that the district assessed local indicators focused on implementation (not outcomes) and reported many areas as "met," while noting continued work on English learner supports and long‑term facility modernization needs. Petty also summarized elements of the district’s LCAP and said it was unchanged from the version previously presented and open for two weeks of public feedback.
Chief Business Official Ivon Perez presented the 2026–27 budget and the Education Protection Act resolution and said both items had been part of the June 3 presentation; the board approved the budget, the resolution and the LCAP by roll call with board members voting yes. The board also discussed and approved independent contractor agreements for legal services and other routine items that were presented during action item four.
