Adair County supervisors approve $660,777.65 W36 Lincoln Bridge contract, assign auditor duties

At its June 9 meeting the Adair County Board of Supervisors approved several administrative and infrastructure actions, including awarding the W36 Lincoln Bridge contract to Cohron & Son Inc. for $660,777.65 and approving a Hungry Canyons funding agreement for the W26 Prussia Culvert Project.
County Engineer Nick Kauffman presented the bridge award and told the board the low bid was about 2.5% below earlier projections. The board moved (Nathan Baier) and seconded (Christoffersen) to approve and sign the contract; a roll-call vote recorded Hoadley, Baier, Wedemeyer, Christoffersen and Walker as 'aye.'
The board also approved assigning Auditor duties to Deputy Auditor Timber Woosley effective June 5, 2026 until a County Auditor is appointed and qualified on June 17, 2026. The board approved a fireworks permit application for Top Notch Fireworks by Brandon Vonk for a July 18, 2026 display.
Auditor Ruthie Smith presented claims totaling $475,159.38, and the board approved the claims and fund distribution, including $297,167.23 charged to the Secondary Road Fund and $67,987.98 to the NW Wind Farm Capital Project Fund. In his maintenance report, Engineer Kauffman said the county received the final FEMA payment and crews had poured the deck on the north 26 project and were preparing to move to the Harrison 18 bridge; a preconstruction meeting was held for the Rose Acres and Casey exit work with a goal to finish before Casey Fun Day in July.
