At the May 20, 2026 weekly business session, Commissioner Gary L. Richardson addressed online public commentary about recent joint facility visits that he and Vice-Chair Colene M. Martin conducted. Richardson cited Oregon law and administrative rules—specifically ORS 192.610(6)(b) and Oregon Administrative Rule 199-050-0015—saying the visits were observational inspections of county facilities and properties and did not include deliberations or decision-making.
Richardson also discussed upcoming Budget Committee meetings and requested that county departments provide simplified revenue breakdowns identifying local, state and federal funding sources; he asked departments to flag one-time or potentially at-risk grant funding and to discuss potential impacts from changes to federal and state funding structures.
The commissioner reviewed emergency-preparedness and wildfire-readiness resources available to the public, including how residents can sign up for evacuation alerts and prepare an emergency "go bag," and demonstrations were provided to show public access to emergency-alert signup information on the county website.
Vice-Chair Colene M. Martin reminded the public of Memorial Day community events, thanked the Active Club for organizing local festivities, and encouraged safe, responsible attendance.
