Commission approves Prairie Grove high school fieldhouse plan, with drainage approval pending

The Craiger Planning Commission on Aug. 8 approved a large-scale development plan for a new Prairie Grove high school fieldhouse and practice facility, subject to final drainage approval by the public works director.
Planning staff presented the site layout and noted utilities review is complete but drainage plans had recently been resubmitted to the city engineer. The superintendent — who introduced the project and described multiuse functions for spring sports and locker-room needs — and school representatives answered commissioners’ questions about siting and the practice field location.
Commissioners stressed that the motion should exclude final drainage acceptance until the public works director signs off; one commissioner asked that the approval explicitly be contingent on those drainage plans. The commission then voted to approve the large-scale development plan with the recommended contingency.
Staff said remaining engineering comments were being addressed and that the applicant must supply final drainage approvals before construction permits are issued. The approval allows the school to advance design and return with finalized civil engineering documents for final permit review.
