Poweshiek County certifies June 2 primary election results

POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa — The Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors voted June 9 to certify the results of the June 2, 2026 primary election and approved the abstract of votes.
The board approved the canvass after vote totals were read with Laura Tish, Assistant Commissioner of Elections, present. The certification, adopted as Resolution #2026-50, records 1,823 ballots cast in person on election day and 386 absentee ballots accepted for counting, for a total of 2,209 votes. The resolution states no obvious clerical errors were identified during the canvass.
Supervisor Jacki Bolen moved to approve the abstract of votes and the certification; Supervisor Jason Roudabush seconded both motions. Each motion carried on a 2-0 vote.
The resolution lists the county nominees for partisan county offices resulting from the primary: Board of Supervisors nominees are Democratic – Jason Roudabush and Republican – Jeff Tindle; Republican nominees also include Jennifer Anderson for County Treasurer, Jodi L. Meyer for County Recorder, and Bart K. Klaver for County Attorney. The resolution notes that the Democratic Party did not nominate candidates for county treasurer, county recorder, and county attorney.
The board’s certification document is signed by Jason Roudabush as chairperson and attested by Melissa Eilander, Poweshiek County auditor. Chair Roudabush also noted he is scheduled to attend a South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency meeting the following day.
The board adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
