The Hyannis Area Schools Board discussed several facility improvements at its Jan. 12 meeting but made no formal motions to approve new winches for retractable basketball hoops or to accept the final playground quote from Point One Construction.
The minutes note that the proposed playground would receive the majority of its funding from the Improvement Foundation but that a final quote from Point One Construction was still pending; the board recorded no motion or vote to approve that quote. The board also did not take a motion to approve installing new winches on existing retractable hoops and padding for the east gym storage room doors.
Board members discussed sequencing of gym alterations, including prioritizing installation of showers in the varsity girls locker room before installing a dividing curtain and removing cement stairs in the gymnasium. The discussion identified the shower installation as a near-term priority but the minutes show no vote or formal direction to staff to proceed.
Because the minutes record no formal approval for the winch installation or the playground contract, those projects remain pending until the board receives final quotes or takes formal action. The board's next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2026.
