Canal Winchester council unanimously adopts fire station plan, right-of-way, event exemption and updates pool rates and budget

The council adopted RES-26-019, an amended final development plan for the Violet Township fire station at 6969 Busey Road. The resolution was sponsored by Councilmember David Payne; the motion to adopt was made by Payne and seconded by Will Bennett. The minutes record the vote as Yes 7 – Payne, Bennett, Detwiler, McLaughlin, Moore, Shea, Amick.
Council also adopted RES-26-020, authorizing the mayor to accept a 0.17-acre parcel to be dedicated as right-of-way for public use. Mayor Laurie Amick sponsored the resolution; the motion to adopt was made by Amick and seconded by Bennett, and passed 7–0.
RES-26-021, sponsored by Councilmember Hanna Detwiler, exempts the Canal Winchester Sustainability Commission’s Great Garage Revival event from counting toward the city’s garage-sale limits under Section 1135.09(c)(3). Council approved the exemption on a motion by Detwiler, seconded by Bennett (7–0).
On the ordinances side, Council adopted ORD-26-007, an amendment to Ordinance #24-010 updating swimming pool rates, sponsored by Richard Moore and adopted on a motion from Moore, seconded by Bennett (7–0). Council also approved ORD-26-008, Amendment #1 to the 2026 appropriation ordinance (#25029), sponsored by Alec McLaughlin and adopted on a motion by McLaughlin, seconded by Moore (7–0).
None of the motions recorded additional amendments or recorded dissent.
