Hyannis Area Schools board approves 2026–27 negotiated agreement, buys new convection oven

President Justin Vinton called the Hyannis Area Schools Board of Education to order at 3:00 p.m. Dec. 5 in the high school library and confirmed five members were present, with Secretary Chris Cover noted absent.
The board unanimously approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda, which included the Nov. 11, 2025 minutes and disbursements totaling $270,580.01 for the general fund, $13,392.87 for the lunch fund, $11,098.78 for the activity fund and $465.17 for the special building fund. The consent motion was made by Vice President Clint Taylor and seconded by Bob Meester; votes in favor were recorded by Mark Vinton, Clint Taylor, Kevin Anderson, Bob Meester and Justin Vinton, with Cover absent.
In committee and administrative reports, Superintendent Travis Hawk and Business Manager Lauren Kostman presented a district financial review and an update on negotiations for the 2026–2027 school year. Following committee recommendations, the board approved the 2026–2027 Negotiated Agreement as presented. The motion to approve the negotiated agreement was moved by Kevin Anderson, seconded by Bob Meester and passed by the members present.
The board also approved the purchase of a new convection oven, replacing a nearly 30-year-old unit, for the quoted price of $8,995 plus shipping. The purchase motion was moved by Anderson and seconded by Meester and passed by the members present.
Board members discussed a quote and update to replace and install an improved winch system for the bleacher-side retractable hoops, and related items including removing steps and addressing the gym curtain and pad doors; no formal action on that item is recorded in the minutes.
The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. and adjourned at 3:21 p.m. The minutes note that Chris Cover signed as secretary.
