Gordon County honors firefighters with Medals of Valor for life‑saving rescue

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners presented Medals of Valor to four Fire Rescue personnel June 2 at the Judicial Building Assembly Room.
Chief Heath Derryberry recognized the life‑saving efforts of crews from Stations 1, 5 and 6 and presented awards to Lt. Zach Crow, Probationary Firefighter Kevin Camacho, Sgt. Jake Nicholson and Battalion Chief Bo Nicholson. The recognition occurred during the work session portion of the meeting; Administrator Jim Ledbetter had opened the session with an overview of the agenda.
The commission recessed for routine business after the presentation and entered executive session later in the work session. The board took no formal action connected to the recognition beyond the public acknowledgment at the meeting.
The meeting resumed its regular session at 6:00 p.m. and proceeded with the published agenda.
