Board hears scorecard review: gains in elementary benchmarks, more work at middle and high school levels

On academic goals, the presenter reported the elementary schools met a 10% growth target on classroom benchmark assessments, while middle and high school targets showed gains but fell short of the 10% goal.
Administrators pointed to increased access to honors and AP coursework, more students in apprenticeships and dual-enrollment, and a 25% increase in student career-exposure experiences this year (the target had been 50%). On family engagement, the district launched a branded Greendale schools app with 93% family registration and 73% active engagement; administrators noted roughly 700 messages per month through the app and high ratings on communication clarity.
The board discussed the role of professional learning communities (PLCs), investments in student mental-health staffing and training, and the district’s effort to recruit and retain representative staff. The presenter said a strategic planning event is scheduled for July 8 and invited board members to participate while ensuring community voices are centered.
