Canal Winchester council moves three resolutions and adopts two ordinances unanimously

The Canal Winchester City Council on April 20 unanimously advanced three resolutions and adopted two ordinances in a meeting that combined a work session and regular council action.
Council moved Resolution 26-019, approving an amended final development plan for the Violet Township Fire Station at the listed site, after city staff said planning and zoning had approved the access-drive addition and a variance for a 45-foot main access drive. City administrator Mr. Peoples explained the plan changes and noted the fire department will return later for sign approval.
The council also approved moving Resolution 26-020, authorizing the mayor to accept a 0.17-acre parcel dedicated as right-of-way to accommodate a future water line and an associated bike-path connection. Mr. Peoples said the parcel will permit the water-line plans and the path alignment discussed with neighboring jurisdictions.
Resolution 26-021, exempting the Canal Winchester Sustainability Commission’s Great Garage Revival event from the annual garage-sale-count limitation in code section 1135.09C3, was similarly moved to full council. Mr. Peoples and council members said the exemption responds to prior complaint-driven enforcement that largely stemmed from parking and repeated events in the same location.
In the ordinance business, Council adopted Ordinance 26-007 to amend swimming pool rates and Ordinance 26-008, an amendment to the 2026 appropriation ordinance (Amendment No. 1). Both ordinances passed on roll-call votes with all members voting yes.
All recorded roll calls during the meeting showed unanimous support for the items advanced or adopted; the clerk recorded 'yes' votes from the participating council members in each case. No recorded votes failed or were recorded as abstentions on these items.
Council scheduled upcoming meetings including a work session and regular council meetings on May 4 and May 18, and reminded residents of community events and commission activities.
