Councilmembers debated the purpose and oversight of the Senior Citizens committee and whether it should remain on the committee roster; Paula said she had little to report and the mayor noted committees may persist through the next electoral cycle. The mayor asked the council to consider a study of a set pay rate for council positions (as opposed to current per-meeting pay), and councilmembers agreed to examine that possibility during the coming year and to consider whether to apply similar changes to planning commissioners.
The mayor said the city will not make sweeping committee changes immediately because this is an election year and membership may change in January; the council voted to adopt the organizational items that were proposed during the meeting.
