Commission discusses leaving old candy‑factory building as a nonconforming use

Planning staff and commissioners on Jan. 8 discussed whether to initiate rezoning for the old candy‑factory building. Staff recommended leaving the property zoned R1 and allowing the existing use to remain nonconforming; the commission agreed there was no immediate need to rezone and that it would be better to address specific changes if and when the property were sold or the owner proposed a different use.
