MPS finance committee approves consent items, salary schedule and instructional materials contract
Summary

At its June meeting the Committee on Finance and Operations approved multiple routine and significant items from the consent agenda and took several formal actions to forward other items to the full board.
Director Zomber moved to approve the remainder of the consent agenda after holding specific items for separate consideration; the motion to approve the balance of the consent items passed on a 4–0 roll call. The committee later approved the administration’s monthly personnel recommendations by voice vote and accepted an administration update on recruitment.
On finance actions, the committee authorized purchases and accepted donations as listed in the attachments, directed administration to continue monthly revenue and expenditure reporting through October, and agreed to hold the requested waiver of administrative policy 3.05 for full‑board consideration. The committee also advanced awards of professional services contracts to the full board without recommendation, specifically moving some contracts forward while holding the Cisco contract pending remediation of student‑employment compliance issues.
The committee approved the district’s 2026–2027 salary schedules (which incorporate earlier phase‑one increases approved May 28) and voted to authorize a $6,585,919.70 purchase order to HMH Education Company for English language arts materials for grades 9–12; the HMH item was approved with one director temporarily absent. The committee also approved a limited‑term conservation easement with the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District and an amended and restated use and maintenance agreement with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee for the Rogers Street Academy site.
An informational triannual audits and reviews update highlighted progress on operational, human resources and instructional audit items; no action was required on that item. The meeting concluded with an acknowledgment of Fratney community members who provided public comment earlier in the meeting.
