Parks & Recreation Director Alina Hibbs described two fee proposals: a lower‑cost two‑day swim‑team option to provide a more affordable alternative for participants, and adjustments to cemetery pricing for lots and alcove mausoleum niches driven by operations and maintenance costs and decreased availability of certain categories. Staff explained some north/south facing mausoleum sections were sold out and the fee schedule was updated to reflect available alcove niches.
City staff also explained the fee resolution includes a 3.1% school impact fee adjustment tied to the CPI for the Seattle–Tacoma–Bellevue area, a formula the council previously approved and that had been implemented automatically on April 1; staff said they would evaluate the school district’s capital facilities plan once approved by the school board and bring any recommendation to deviate from the formula back to council.
Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution during the meeting; staff noted one email from Kyle Fletcher (school district business operations director) about school impact fees had been received and included in the packet.
