Page County jail project moves toward punch-list; dispatch partial occupancy expected after fire-marshal inspection

Chris Paul, the site superintendent on the Page County jail project, updated the board on construction progress and near-term milestones.
Paul said the roof and scuppers are in place, vestibule metalwork is underway, and exterior final grading will be finished shortly. Inside, crews are installing and polishing concrete, applying epoxy in kitchens and laundry areas, and installing flooring in non-detention spaces. "They're testing and programming the fire alarm tomorrow, and the fire marshall will be in on Monday the 22nd'barring any complications'and we will get partial occupancy of the building for the dispatch to move," he said.
Paul described progress on detention-area work including installed frames, painted surfaces, hung doors and installed hardware; mechanical work to start large air handlers in the jail was in progress and expected to be operational by the end of the week. He said a contractor punch-list walkthrough with architects and engineers is set for July 13; after the walkthrough, contractors will have a 30-day period to finish items identified on the punch list.
Paul also noted site logistics: Stickler is scheduled to finish the driveway to the highway on June 24 and the county expects short-term road closures (June 24'28) while that work occurs, after which Crane Construction will regrade and seed disturbed areas. He said trailers and storage containers are already leaving the site as finishing work proceeds.
The board discussed remaining commissioning inspections, jail-inspector visits, training for jail staff on new systems and furniture/fixture installation; no formal action was taken at the meeting.
