The Susanville City Council approved two separate resolutions authorizing liens for unpaid vehicle-abatement costs after code enforcement reported removal of inoperative vehicles at two properties.
For 2403 Riverside Drive staff said notices of intent to abate were issued in November 2025, contractors removed remaining vehicles in December, and an invoice for $525 was issued on Jan. 9 for abatement costs; no payment had been received as of the hearing. Staff requested approval of Resolution 266536 to record a lien for the unpaid amount and correct a date in the draft resolution; the council voted to approve the measure unanimously.
Staff also presented a similar abatement matter for 1101 Orange Street. Notices were issued in December, and city-contracted agents removed a 1996 Chevy pickup and a 1998 Ford Expedition from the property on Dec. 18; an invoice for $485 was issued on Jan. 9 and remained unpaid. Council approved Resolution 26-6537 to record a lien for the unpaid abatement costs following a brief presentation of photos and staff explanation.
Both actions were presented by the city’s code enforcement officer and were approved by unanimous vote. The resolutions will allow the city to record liens to recover costs incurred for abatement work.
