Supervisor Burger told the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors on June 16 that a structural fire at a barn at the Saratoga Casino Hotel in Saratoga Springs that morning resulted in a complete loss and the deaths of 17 horses. He said four animals were rescued and one escaped.
Burger thanked the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, police and fire dispatchers, the Saratoga County Emergency Communications Center, the Saratoga County Office of Emergency Services, the county fire coordinator’s staff and several volunteer fire departments and utility crews for mutual aid and coordinated response. He asked for a moment of silence in memory of the animals and acknowledged the emotional toll of the incident.
Chair Barrett and other supervisors expressed thanks to first responders and noted the county-wide teamwork shown during the response. No formal action was taken; the chair said the board would be kept updated as circumstances develop.
