The Town of Rome Board of Selectmen accepted donations totaling $1,365 for the town ball field at its April 6 meeting. Treasurer Adam Clement reported a $1,315 donation plus a separate $50 contribution; 1st Selectman Kelly Archer moved to accept the donations, Philip Burnworth seconded, and the motion passed 3-0.
The board also discussed advertising for the next town newsletter. The planned issue will feature a single page of 2"x3" advertisements priced at $75 apiece. The administrative assistant will contact potential advertisers and post an announcement on the town website and social media.
Town Clerk/Tax Collector Julie Morrison told the Selectmen she will close the Town Office at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21 to visit the Kennebec Registry of Deeds in Augusta for tax-liens work. Morrison also reported she spoke with the Maine Municipal Association, which confirmed the Budget Committee is not required to post agendas or minutes for their meetings.
Assessing agent Matt Caldwell recommended the town wait to upgrade to TrioWeb until after tax bills are issued. The Select Board reviewed a section of town policies for updates. 2nd Selectman Larry DiPietro moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m.; Philip Burnworth seconded and the motion passed 3-0. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m.
