Rome selectmen approve Motor Vehicle Agent pay raise, log dog-barking complaints for ACO review

The Board of Selectmen approved making the Motor Vehicle Agent's pay raise to $28 per hour retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026. First Selectman Kelsey Archer made the motion, Second Selectman Larry DiPietro seconded it, and the board voted 3-0 to approve the change.
Deanna Turlo and Kevin Gurney submitted an excessive dog-barking log; First Selectman Archer said she would provide the log to Animal Control Officer Dexter Bridges and asked that Bridges be asked to come to a future Select Board meeting to discuss next steps. Turlo and Gurney will continue logging incidents.
The board also signed appointment papers for committees and positions, discussed local advertising options for the town newsletter and directed staff to contact neighboring towns about pricing and frequency. The board approved the March 9, 2026 meeting minutes earlier in the meeting and adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
