County Superintendent Lisa Rosberg said she revised the letter after receiving county figures from staff because national figures from NACO did not match Park County's local data. "The figures that I pulled off of NACO were not exactly what were Park County's figures," she said, and the letter was adjusted to reflect the county's numbers.
A county staff member presented potential impacts if SRS allocations fall further, saying Park County had lost about 57% of SRS funding from 2023 to 2025 and could lose 65% in 2026. The speaker said that would reduce road and school allocations substantially, noting roads received about $279,000 in FY2023 but could fall toward roughly $40,000 under the 65% scenario.
Commissioner Vermillion moved to sign the letter of support; the motion was seconded and passed on an oral aye vote.
The commission approved the letter with updated county figures; the action is a formal statement of support for SRS funding advocacy but does not itself secure additional funds.
