At its Sept. 16, 2024 meeting, the Oak Brook Park District Board of Commissioners approved multiple formal actions, including a three-year fitness equipment lease and a resolution authorizing the district to intervene in property tax assessment appeals.
Commissioner Suleiman moved, and Commissioner Ivkovic Kelley seconded, to approve a three-year lease agreement with National Cooperative Lease for fitness equipment for a total not-to-exceed $144,334.05. The motion passed on a roll call vote with Ayes recorded from Commissioners Gondek, Ivkovic Kelley, Suleiman, and President Knitter; Commissioner Vescovi was absent.
Shortly after, Commissioner Suleiman moved, and Commissioner Ivkovic Kelley seconded, to approve Resolution No. 24-0916, "A Resolution Authorizing Intervention in Property Tax Assessment Appeals." That motion also passed by roll call with the same 4-0 tally (Vescovi absent).
The board then entered closed session under the Illinois Open Meetings Act to review closed meeting minutes and the semi-annual closed-minutes review, including consideration of Resolution 24-1022 covering closed minutes from Jan. 1, 1989 through Aug. 31, 2024. Upon returning to open session, the board approved the March 18, 2024 closed meeting minutes by roll call vote (Ayes: Gondek, Ivkovic Kelley, Suleiman, Knitter; Absent: Vescovi).
During reports, CFO Marco Salinas said the General, Recreation, and Tennis Center funds were in surplus for the first four months of the fiscal year, personal property replacement tax receipts have declined, and membership and program revenues have increased. Executive Director Dr. Kosey said the federal grant agreement for a bridge project has arrived and will require additional approvals before work proceeds; the board will consider personnel policy revisions at a future meeting after review by PDRMA Risk Management and legal counsel.
No further formal votes were recorded at the meeting; the board is scheduled to meet next on Oct. 21, 2024.
