GREAT BARRINGTON — The Great Barrington Board of Assessors unanimously approved the minutes of March 24, 2026, and a series of property tax exemptions and a deferral during a brief meeting April 14 at Town Hall.
Emily Schilling, the town’s principal assessor, told the board the homeowner at 3 Mountain St. is "100% disabled" and asked for a motion to approve a veteran exemption under Clause 22E; Carol Strommer moved to approve and Schilling seconded. The board voted unanimously.
Earlier, the board approved minutes from March 24 on a motion by Carol Strommer, seconded by Schilling. The board also approved senior exemptions under Clause 41D and other 41D exemptions, including properties listed as 275 Park St. N, 29 Hart St., 403 North Plain Rd., and 12 Lake View Rd. For 12 Lake View Rd. the board additionally approved a Clause 41A deferral after Schilling confirmed the homeowner met the qualifications. Each approval was moved by Carol Strommer, seconded by Emily Schilling, and passed unanimously.
At 2:08 p.m., Strommer moved that the board convene in executive session "for the purpose of discussing properties pertaining to value and reviewing, voting on abatement applications," and that they not return to open session; the motion cited M.G.L. Chapter 30A Section 21 and Chapter 59 Section 60. Schilling seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously.
The meeting record shows Strommer moved to adjourn at 2:35 p.m.; Schilling seconded and the board voted unanimously to adjourn.
