She told the board the plan is to locate the transportation office in the district auto shop alongside the white-fleet storage and maintenance area. Bill Carnell visited campus and reviewed options for housing the buses, Reyes said.
Board members asked operational questions. Member Jordan Davis asked how vehicle maintenance has been handled; Reyes acknowledged basic maintenance had lagged and said the district has been "playing catch up" to bring buses up to standard. Business Manager Elizabeth Ibarra added that Facilities Director Johnny Lopez has been maintaining the white fleet.
Reyes said some buses may be declared surplus as the district finalizes its inventory. No formal vote was required; board members discussed logistics and staffing steps needed to complete the transition. The district did not specify a timeline for hiring beyond the seven-day posting window for the director position.
